Acid Brass is Awesome!

Last night I was lucky enough to see Jeremey Dellers Acid Brass at the new Ikon Eastside Gallery space in Digbeth, Birmingham. It was fantastic! The concept is simple, the Williams Fairey Brass Band  perform a number of early House Music anthems that would normally have been programmed on synths and 808 drum machines.

The force and power of the band was incredible! In fact I’d heard them play a number of years ago on a CD someone lent me but didn’t realise until last night that it was the same band. They performed classics such as Voodoo Ray, in fact the crowd were so eager to hear it that they played it twice!

Seriously it’s perhaps the best live gig I have ever been to! Reminded me a little of the brass bands in New Orleans… I think these guys should do a tour over to Louisiana for next years Mardi Gras!!!

Use this link to go hear one of their tracks!
They have a CD for sale that I’m going to have to buy asap! Recommend you listen and go see if and when you can. The ACID BRASS experience is unmissable!
