Cadbury Commission
At the start of 2008 I pitched for a commission to create photographic images to be shown in the refurbished and regenerated Cadbury offices held within the new building known as ‘Bournville Place’ at Cadbury HQ in Birmingham.
I pitched a simple and fun idea which was to basically play around with Purple Props around the Cadbury factory location, within the offices, factory lines and surrounding grounds.
The chaps at Cadbury’s liked my ideas and for the past couple of months I’ve been sourcing various Purple props, from a 6ft inflatable beach ball to a Chopper Bike and having lots of fun shooting with them down at the chocolate factory!
I shot a series of images from which three have now been chosen to go up in the offices of ‘Bournville Place’.
I was at the printers today, (see images above and below) checking over the large 6ft x 4ft prints before they go off to be mounted and finally installed. The chap standing in front of the images is Steve from Palm photo lab in Birmingham.
I recommend everyone to get all their photographic needs serviced down at Palm. Steve is great and has the patience of a saint! I was stoked with the quality of these prints, they’re the largest and most important prints I’ve had done in a long time.
The three printed images shown above / below are the ones that will go into Bournville Place.
The two shots below show the actual finished prints hung in place at the offices of the chocolate kingdom that is Cadbury’s!
There’s only enough wall space for three gigantic images so the rest of the series will have to stay under wraps, images that didn’t make the final cut include the very top image (my favourite) of this post, and the few images below, a small selection from the unseen series.
There’s quite a few more images and many more scenes that I wanted to shoot but simply didn’t have the time or budget to create and shoot any more props.
I’ll leave you with the shot below, taken whilst we were throwing the 6ft ball into the sky and running out of shot before it bounced out again! This was great fun! Everyone’s favourite prop, as once the wind got hold of it there was no stopping it! It was like something from the old classic ‘Prisoner’ TV Series!
