Flatpack Time!!!
Early hours Friday morning and I’ve not long returned from the opening night of the Flatpack Film Festival. WOW! Seriously.. tonight was awesome! Things kicked off in St Pauls Church / Mini Cathedral with an amazing 1927 Silent Film that rocked it.. it was French, contained slight nudity and was complemented by a live soundtrack from Drums, Cello, Guitar, Bass and I think I heard a Violin too… yep can’t remember the name of the band. It was an amazing location to see this happen with a big screen, live sounds and free bottles of Cobra.. all happening inside a church.. That’s the genius of Flatpack, it challenges the conventions of your typical film festivals.
After that treat we headed over the road to the pub known as The Actress and Bishop for more random film genius.. This time the highlight was a speaking singing laptop placed upon a stool, on stage with a mic in front of it.. It had an animated robot type face and was incredibly charming as it spoke to the very impressed audience that filled the upstairs.. it provided Stephen Hawking style versions of various classics from the Stone Roses to Radiohead.
That’s about as good a summary I can give at this time.. however there is a whole weekend of cinematic, musical, film related treats occuring all over Brummieland during the next three days! So there we go, if this short random string of words doesn’t seduce you into visiting Flatpack this weekend.. nothing will!

I’ve got a pass to see the whole thing and will do my best to attend.. as witnessing such a special event in Birmingham, makes me both proud and happy to be based here. There really are some rad people doing exciting things here.. could go on and on about them, but for now..check my pass!
