Forget Getty Go Prelinger!
In a couple of weeks I’m going to be doing visuals for various bands at Leeds and Reading Festivals… plan on using various footage from my archive of Super 8... However after various requests from acts, for particular types of footage.. I really didn’t know where to turn. With no time time shoot my own material I turned to Getty but with hefty prices I was left pondering…
That was until a friend reminded me of the Prelinger Archives! I remember hearing about and seeing this way back on the Internet Archive but had totally forgotten about it all. A few weeks ago I posted a music video made by some dude, who cut up old 70’s found skate footage.. indeed I’ve just found this footage free to download and use from the Prelinger Archives. Go take a look at this amazing resource! Prelinger is my new sweet shop!!! And it’s FREE! Unbelievable!
