Fourtet & Steve Reid

Earlier on this evening I was attemtping to work late when the call of a gig became too much.... The gig in question was Keiran Hebden (aka Fourtet) performing with legendary drummer Steve Reid who in 1964 at 19 years of age played on Martha Reeves & the Vandellas’ ‘Dancing In The Street’, and subsequently went on to play with Miles Davis, Fela Kuti and James Brown (think about that for a moment), not to mention Fats Domino, Sun Ra, Peggy Lee, Chaka Khan, Dexter Gordon, Dionne Warwick and many, many more.







Their unique live show blends Kieran’s electronic experimentation with Steve Reid’s laid back yet complex driving polyrhythms. The promo video enticed me to go see them tonight at the Custard Factory but in no way does it do them the justice this fine duo deserve. Seriously recommend you see them live asap!
