Heralded As The New Black

I’ve been working on a short video doc the last few days for the Ikon Gallery and their new / current show ‘Heralded as the New Black’ by Ryan Gander.


It’s a fantastic exhibition dealing with ideas of the visibility, blindness, darkness and the relationship of trust between the artist and viewer. Visually the show is a real treat with some amazing objects, from the giant marble balls that randomly occupy the space, to a cup of oil dangerously placed on a thin glass shelf which is then set at an extreme angle above a door.

There’s also a great video piece (well 16mm transferred to HD to be precise) presented within a specially blacked out and black carpeted section of the gallery space, featuring one of our treasured TV heroes from the golden days of Television comedy!
