Hot 8 Hol’s

Got back from Ibiza early hours of yesterday morning where I’d been since last Friday when I photographed a special SoCo Social event with a street performance from the Hot 8 Brass Band in the centre of San Antonio then onto the main party at Kanya Bar. Spent the rest of the time chilling out on the beach and enjoying my Birthday celebrations! 

The Hot 8 also played at the Hare & Hounds in Birmingham the day after Ibiza and I heard on the grapevine that they played ‘Happy Birthday’ for me! Awesome!

There was a cool dude doing tricks on a bike around the venue, bunny hoping about, doing wheelies with his glowing lights that make him look a bit like the ‘Dynamo’ character from the classic Schwarzenegger film ‘The Running Man’!

This was my second trip to Ibiza in little over a month and although the clubbing action isn’t really my taste and San Antonio at its worst reminds me a little of Blackpool I’ve got to say the island still wins me over with its natural beauty and warm clear waters. On my Birthday I took a trip to some caves up by Port de San Miguel, seeing where smugglers used to stash there goodies was pretty cool, then set off to Beniras beach which has the best sunsets on the island, celebrated by the local hippies who bang out their drums and party every Sunday until the sun drops.

A word of warning though - when hitch hiking across the island with crazy Kiwi’s and a dude from Los Angeles remember two things - Firstly don’t leave your bag in the boot of their car and have to stake out their hotel to get it back! Secondly don’t let them take you on a near death driving experience in search of their friend’s hotel, with the driver looking at google maps on his phone whilst driving a steady 90mph towards a series of Spanish road obstacles such as roundabouts, traffic lights and other peoples cars! Yes… this story is too long and wild to go into detail but let’s just say it was a six hour bonus Birthday experience that will stay with me forever!
