Intimate Ambivalence
I’ve spent the last few days at the Ikon gallery in Birmingham, making a video doc on the installation process and work of Shahzia Sikander.
Her work is fantastic, ranging from incredibly detailed and beautiful paintings consisting of many layers to stunning yet simple graphite portraits of young monks from Lous. It was fun setting up a time lapse camera for four days, capturing the hours of intense labour that went into the creation of a wall drawing produced especially for the Ikon.
