Lands End

For the past six weeks I’ve been seeking out and shooting video footage with Ruth Claxton, an artist who creates these incredible and intense sculptures made of steel filled with mirrored and coloured glass, combined with porcelain figurines which Ruth makes bizarre and compelling interventions upon. The combination is the creation of a landscape and community that is somewhat fantastical, overwhelming and seductive.


I’m cryptic on purpose as I was making a documentary about Ruth’s new show ‘Lands End’ for the Ikon Gallery. You can watch the doc now on the Ikon site or even better go to the Ikon in person and see the work in reality, then pop into the resource room to see the video and get an understanding of how much work went into the making and installation of ‘Lands End’. The show runs from now till 18th May.
