Last Night In Prague or Maybe Not…

Tonight is my last night in Prague, the trip has gone well in some ways and not so well in others… mainly in that my expectations of shooting specific locations where the Plastic People played weren’t met. In part due to the fact that a lof of these places no longer exist and also because the directions I have to those that are in existence are so vague I’m struggling to find them.

However in terms of research, understanding of the Plastic People of The Universe and the Czech underground, I’ve gained a great deal. Not that I know all there is about the subject… 7 days is not nearly enough time to carry out such an extensive project.

When I saw the Plastic People perform at the National Theatre two days ago I was struck by a particular image. Before the band came on stage their instruments were neatly lined up on stage. The instruments quiet and at rest within such a magnificent and classicly decorated theatre, hardly the atmosphere of underground pubs and clubs or even the fields of years gone by.

At the time I wasn’t allowed to take photographs, was unable to bring my bag and camera into the theatre… so I missed this one incredibly important shot! I was annoyed at the time but now have secured permission to take this shot again.. Problem is the next gig is on Thursday. Meaning another flight over here in two days time! Madness!!!

Currently deciding if this one shot is worth another flight to Prague…
