My friend Eve Troeh

I recently received a mail from Eve Troeh, a friend and talented radio journalist over in New Orleans. She’d decided to leave the city recently and I just had a listen to her last report on NPR explaining the sad reason for her leaving and the conflicting relationship she has with the city.  Eve also has a long list of her New Orleans reports on the NPR site dating back to 2004. I’m currently listening to them all and suggest you go take a listen too… There’s also an interesting report by Ari Shapiro discussing the increased crime rate in New Orleans and how people are dealing with it, very distressing but needs to be heard....

There is also a fantastic report Eve made about supermarkets in the city. It features the sound of the very special fruit & veg man Arthur Robinson that passed along every morning, through the Bywater area and street outside my residence during my trip earlier this year. I was actually with Eve in Mardi Gras Zone when she was doing some of her interviews. Hearing the words of Arthur "I have Oranges and Bananas" takes me right back to Louisa St.. and New Orleans… Really great story! Take a listen....
