Plastic Bag Gallery

The Photographers Gallery have started an online gallery of photographs showing plastic bags spotted around London and beyond. The aim is to remind us all of our ability to consume and dispose. They are inviting submissions for the online gallery, which will be live until 2nd September this year. Who knows what will happen to the images from then on, either way it’s a fantastic project that will go some way to changing how we think about plastic bags. I try to reuse bags as much as possible and bring a backpack to help with shopping but even so am guilty of plastic bag consumption. Really the supermarkets and shops should try and force people to avoid using plastic bags or legislation should exist to clamp down on this mega amount of plastic bag wastage! I’m gonna keep my eye out for plastic bags over the next few days for snapping and submission to the gallery. Sadly I don’t think it will be that much of a challenge to find wasted bags....







The shot above (Plastic Bag Gallery (Image - Anton Want) was just one that stood out from the crowd when I was scanning through the contributions. Some quite beautiful and thought provoking images throughout the gallery.
