Quintron & the 9th Ward Marching Band

Today was pretty mellow but exciting never the less. Earlier this afternoon as I was sat outside on the roof balcony I heard the sound of a marching band in the distance. They sounded like they were getting closer so I raced downstairs and jumped on the bike to chase after them. Sure enough it was in fact Quintron and the 9th Ward Marching band, one of the focus points for the trip over here. I didn’t have all my camera kit with me just my polaroid, with only one shot left. Caught them at the end of their practice session, they’re in prepration for the parades next week. I spoke with Quintron and the next practice is Tuesday.. so since they practice in this neighbourhood I’ll be heading out again and hopefully more prepared this time will get what I’m after.







The one shot I decided to take was of two white marching rifles with musical notes on them. Something appealed to me about these objects as they lay on the ground. The light makes them look almost angeleic. Think I’m gonna have to invest in some more polaroid film for Tuesday…
