SoCo Social - Mardi Gras Party!

I was on official photographer duties at the SoCo Social - Mardi Gras party a couple of nights back, down at Cargo in London. I’ve been photographing SoCo events for quite a few years now, they’re always super good but have to say that this was one of the best SoCo events I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing to date!







The street leading to the entrance of Cargo was packed with a huge audience all eager to see the infamous Hot 8 Brass Band of New Orleans! The Hot 8 are legendary not only in New Orleans but all over the continents, and from the reception they received the other night, they definitely have a strong and dedicated following in London!





I actually saw them play at the Howlin’ Wolf over in New Orleans back in Feb 2007, and I have to say that the recent London performance was leagues ahead, the venue more intimate, packed out with a bustling audience, the vibes were totally Mardi Gras, it really felt as though we could have been in a bar somewhere in New Orleans....
