Trip to the other side of the world!
Last Friday I began my trip across the globe heading for Auckland, New Zealand. The story of the trip so far is below…
Starting off from Heathrow Airport, London…
I checked in and boarded my flight with Korean Airlines.
This first leg of the flight took a about 9 hours or so..
Flying over Russia, China, that’s Bejing below.
Finally taking me to Incheon Aiport, Seoul, Korea. Where I stopped for a few hours and saw cool things like this cute graphics massage sign!
I didn’t stop for a massage but did end up doing some Korean craft at the in-house cultural centre - dedicated to giving passing travelers a taste of the Korean. Me and a fellow traveler I made friends with on the flight ended up getting involved, on the false premise that we’d be getting some free food! Nope - not a noodle in sight - just the art of hanji craft! This basically involved us pasting paper onto a box that can be used for various things. Our instructor was genius though.
Flying back off heading over Japan nearing ever closer towards the final destination.
Yup.. 11 hours later the light dawned and below the skies the glistening shores of New Zealand came into focus!
Finally landed safely at the destination…
Then went up the summit of Mount Eden to get a proper view of Auckland city, with some local cows giving me the low down!
Been here a couple of days now taking it easy in an attempt to shift the incredible jet lag! As of writing this I’m more spaced out than a hedgehog on a rocket ship to the moon! Here for two months on missions yet to come into focus! Should get rid of this jet-lag by the end of the week and then kick into action! Will try and keep the blog up to date with all the adventures!
glad to hear you made it in one piece. say hi to those NZ cows for me…

Loving the photo’s telling the story but should have expected that from a photographer really.
I hear that NZ is almost as beautiful as Dudley this time of year.

Hi Chris, hope you are over your jetlag by now. It looks fantastic where you are. I showed it to Jim on Google Earth. Back here in Brum it’s very very cold, and I have got man flu. Some of my pals are bunking up in your room for a month or so. They think it’s really cool up there. Anyway, take care. Skype you soon I hope. Reed. Scruff says hello.

Hey Chris, glad you got there OK, and my advice would be take the jet lag as a really good excuse for taking it easy! I think I remember just sleeping, eating and sitting in the sun for about a week when I first got there. Looking forward to reading your news on here. By the way - that sunshine looks good, do you reckon you could trap some in a box and send it to me here?

Hi Chris,
Glad you arrived safely , try some melatonin for the jet lag. Look forward to keeping up with your travels . Envious of the weather we’ve just had some heavy snow here in Leeds .
