Photography Is Not A Crime!

I might have posted a while back on laws the government are bringing in that make street photography, especially if a policeman is present - illegal and a very punishable crime! Well....

The Telegraph confirm the madness that from now on it is illegal to photograph a Policeman. Why should a Policeman fear having his photograph taken?

This is a move perhaps towards control of photo journalism and a slightly worrying measure for our government to take! Read more on the Telegraph website!

Is pretty shocking if you think about it. Some of the most memorable examples of great photo journalism are of the injustices imposed by those in authority. This ban not only affects policemen:

(1) A person commits an offence who -

(a) elicits or attempts to elicit information about an individual who is or has been -
(i) a member of Her Majesty’s forces,
(ii) a member of any of the intelligence services, or
(iii) a constable

“SHUT UP! BE HAPPY!”
